Skits and Characters

Meet the characters from our skits

This Children's Church series includes drama skits, meant to be performed by your staff in a large-group setting. These entertaining, funny, interactive skits are highly educational, effectively setting the stage for the Book Smarts and Street Smarts lessons that are also included in this series.

Each drama skit typically takes 20 minutes to perform and generally features one "live actor" and two secondary characters, who can either be performed as puppets or by other volunteers. For each skit, a five-page printable script is provided, along with a "teleprompter" script which can be shown on a tv or computer display on-stage, minimizing the need for your actors to memorize scripts.

We suggest beginning your children's worship services with a time of welcome and prayer, followed by our drama skits, and then by a time of musical worship using the music of your choice. Afterwards, we suggest splitting your kids into their various age groups and classrooms for their age-targeted Book Smarts and Street Smarts lesson times. Altogether, this makes for a fun, complete, and Scripture-rich Children's Church experience!

Below is a quick look at characters used in this series.

Meet the Drama Characters!
(your characters may look different)
Reid This lead character is a bookish adventurer. Reid takes kids on literary adventures through Bible stories, history and classic literature to show that God's Word is supreme.
Bobby This puppet character is Becky's brother. Bobby likes sports and video games, but gets discouraged, confused or misled fairly easily.

Arthur This puppet character is a barely-sane adult man with some strange tastes who gets very easily confused. If there is a way to misunderstand a situation, Arthur will do it.
Jimmy This puppet character is Arthur's son. Jimmy is cocky and punkish and often needs to be corrected by one of the Lead characters, but usually learns his lesson.
Rob This puppet character is a talking smart-aleck raccoon who interacts with the rest of the cast. He is a mix of Bugs Bunny and Cliff Clavin.
Dr. Deceit This puppet character is our "discount" villain, who always tries to deceive the kids with unbiblical ideas. His lies are easy for kids to see through, but he often manages to fool the other characters.

What's Needed

Items you'll need to supply

Item Explanation
Classrooms Needed One classroom will be needed for each age group (up to four) that you incorporate in your program.
Drama Room One room in which you can perform the drama skits for all of your kids. This room can double as one of your classrooms (above).
Volunteers Needed One teacher per age group, and ideally, one teaching assistant per group. One adult for every ten children is helpful.
Performers Needed Volunteers to perform the Lead Characters (usually one per episode) and the puppet characters (usually two per episode).
Puppets The full TruthQuest puppet cast includes seven puppets, which you'll need to acquire or produce. These puppet characters are described above in "skits and characters." Most series will not need ALL of those puppets, but other series kits will. While TruthQuest does not supply puppets, we can recommend Creative Ministry Solutions (http://creativemin.com) as a resource for puppets.
Supplies and Props for Lessons and Skits Whenever possible, TruthQuest includes printable props for use in our Drama Skits and Street Smarts Application lessons. However, you will sometimes need to supply some simple items and props. These are described in the introductions for each lesson and skit.
Game Supplies If you choose to incorporate our optional games, you'll need a few supplies like plastic balls, buckets, balloons, and parachutes. The specific items needed are described on each Lesson Pack's cover sheet.
Paper If you choose to print everything we supply for this series, you'll need about 60-120 sheets or more of paper. See "Printing Solutions" below.
Ink or Toner If you choose to print everything we supply for this series, you'll occasionally need to replace ink cartridges. Laser printing may be more cost-effective. See "Printing Solutions" below.
Printing Solutions It may not be necessary for you to print many of our materials. Using smartphones or tablets, you and your staff can access our materials from those devices and work straight from their screens. Or, you can have multiple people login to our website and ask them to print a portion of the materials you need. For example, you could ask teachers to print their own lessons, etc.

Web-based

Stored for you on our servers...

Our products are digital, not physical. That means you won't have to wait for us (or pay for us) to ship you a box full of stuff. Instead, we deliver all of our materials to you INSTANTLY by hosting it all "in the cloud" on our website. This allows you to get started right away, without having to keep track of books, discs, or other stuff. You and your staff can simply log in to our website from any computer or mobile device, and all of your materials are right there waiting for you, right at your fingertips, wherever you are!

Better still, our servers will always have the most recent, up-to-date versions of our materials, all backed up regularly and waiting for you to access, now or years in the future, anytime you need them! It's a faster, smarter, and less expensive way to do children's church! See our information below about what each Children's Church Series includes!

Better Bible Content

It's our passion...

Our five-week Children's Church series kits aren't "watered down" to appeal to a broader audience--we teach what we believe, and we don't shy away from the tough issues which we believe our children face. Our Children's Church products are not only evangelical for unchruched children, but also to challenge believers to grow in maturity with Christ. We believe that Children's Church should not only be fun, but also life-changing. After all, that's the whole point, right?

No Fancy Packages

Because that's not the point...

Colorful packages with handles, popcorn cans, and kits filled with t-shirts, toys, and trinkets all make Children's Church look fun and exciting, and that's all great. But at the end of the day, none of those things are going to change a child's life. Those things are all about marketing (which, incidently, you are paying for).

There's nothing wrong with that, but that's not how we roll. Aside from the fact that our Children's Church products don't include packaging at all (they are delivered digitally), we believe that curriculum products should be judged on their CONTENT, not on their marketing. That's why we allow you to sample any of our Children's Church products at no charge for a limited time before you buy. We let our content speak for itself!

Digital, not Physical

Convenient digital materials...

All of our Children's Church products run for five weeks, but instead of shipping you a box full of physical, printed materials, we publish everything digitally and deliver it to you instantly. It may not be what you're used to, but this approach allows us to offer complete materials at low prices, all without bothering with inventory, packaging, and shipping, which would add to your costs. And after all, Children's Church isn't the paper it's printed on--it's the ideas and intellectual property. Instead of providing those to you on paper, we provide them digitally, which makes our Children's Church products easy to duplicate, reproduce, and use again and again!

Less Expensive

Great values for $50

Our Children's Church prices are among the lowest in the industry, providing your choice of full and complete five-week Children's Church series at one low price. Instead of "nickel-and-diming" you to purchase adequate copies and materials, we deliver our full, complete products to you digitally, allowing you to print your own materials on demand--from any computer and in any quantities you need! Even with paper and ink-toner costs factored in, our Children's Church products remain among the best values available.

Easier to Buy

One package, one price...

With our Children's Church products, you don't have to sift through big catalogs of accessories or fuss over ordering the right quantities of supplies. That's because our Children's Church products are all-inclusive five-week series packages that include all the components you need, all in easily reproducible and usable formats--all for one low price!

Instant Delivery

Get started right away...

In a hurry to get started? Our Children's Church products become available for you to use the moment you order them! At the time of your order, you'll be asked to set up an account on our website (if you don't already have one). This simple process will ask for your name, email address, and a username and password of your choice. After your order is complete, you'll login to your account with the username and password you created, and your purchased products will be right there waiting for you, ready to use immediately, and from then on!

Easy to Use and Re-Use

Print whatever you need...

If you're comfortable enough with technology to be reading this, you'll find our products easy to use. Everything is at your fingertips, ready to be accessed at your will, wherever you are. Better still, if you want to re-use our Children's Church products a few years from now, they'll still be waiting for you on our servers. Just log in to our website, and your curriculum will be there waiting for you.
